About the Role:
Do you have a passion for training and developing others? We have a unique opportunity for an experienced and suitably qualified Learning and Development professional to join the team at Alcoa’s WA Mining Operations. This role will be offered as a fixed term contract position or secondment reporting directly to the Human Resource Manager; this position optimises activities to support the business plan and overall efficiency for the location.
In this role, we are looking for someone who will assist in driving competency uplift in the business to support operations in achieving performance measures. This position will focus specifically on supporting the Learning and capability needs and improving our current practices in our Mining operations.
Key activities and challenges are:
Complete a L&D Assessment of our existing operations, including a gap analysis and goal matrix of our WA Mining operations.
Providing functional support in the deployment of standard training methods and measures across the location, in the areas of safety, process, mechanical, business improvement, interpersonal, mobile skills, technical, apprentices and traineeships.
Sharing and implementing best practice processes across WA Operations.
Ensuring that training processes align to WA Operations standards and legislative requirements and are correctly deployed into the operating areas.
Holding accountability for measuring the health of training within mining and facilitate continual improvement in the pursuit of operational excellence.
Designing, developing and facilitating Learning and Development programs.
Providing strong leadership ensuring continual improvement and achieving consistent high standards at all levels.

What you can bring to the role:
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
Tertiary qualification HR/Learning and Development related, or equivalent industry experience.
Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
Proven experience working within a similar, Learning and Development position where they key focus of the role was Business Improvement projects related to L&D.
Knowledge of learning management systems and eLearning tools,
Solid in Learning & Development (Training, Learning & Development).
Solid working knowledge of Training Systems.
Solid Organisational Development experience

About the Location
Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world’s second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa’s Pinjarra and Kwinana alumina refineries. Bauxite ore from Alcoa’s Huntly and Willowdale mines helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
