The Lecturer: Academic Development works collaboratively with academic and professional staff in the Teaching Innovation Unit (TIU) and Academic Units to achieve outcomes related to the strategic learning and teaching directions of the University. In addition, the Lecturer: Academic Development promotes knowledge and skills that underpin effective practice in relation to curriculum design, academic and professional literacies, blended and digital learning, assessment and evaluation, and scholarly research in the area of learning and teaching in higher education.A key aspect of this role is the provision of support and advice to Academic Unit Deans of Programs and UniSA Online Associate Deans to achieve stated priorities that aim to strengthen program curriculum, including an appropriate balance of traditional and technologically rich teaching practices. This will involve revision to existing curriculum and the provision of new offerings designed specifically for the online environment.About UniSAThe is Australia's University of Enterprise. The Unit supports the University's long-standing commitments to quality education, student-centred learning, and staff development, which positions it as an innovative, outward-looking institution built on more than a century's experience as a leader in educating professionals and applied research.Core Responsibilities
- Engage with University, TIU, and Academic Unit policies, priorities and strategic initiatives to improve student learning outcomes in programs and courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Provide leadership in learning and teaching in relation to the development of an education environment that strongly articulates with the University's strategic learning and teaching goals
- Design and develop new online programs and courses collaboratively with Academic Unit based academic staff, Dean of Programs, Associate Dean: UniSA Online, and TIU Learning Designers and the Media Team.
- Provide staff development activities and resources that facilitate the implementation of University policies and University and Academic Unit strategic priorities related to learning and teaching
- Advocate and support academic staff to design and employ flexible learning and teaching strategies that are sensitive to the needs of learners from a wide range of educational, social, and cultural backgrounds
- A doctoral qualification or equivalent experience related to teaching and learning in higher education
- Demonstrated experience in the design and development of curriculum that engages diverse cohorts of learners for on-campus, blended and online learning contexts
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with a team orientation
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and learning and teaching in higher education
- Understanding of theories and practices of learning and teaching in higher education and demonstrated scholarship in these areas, with a particular emphasis on the use of technologies to support student learning
