About You
We are seeking a Lecturer to enrich our Journalism programs, including the Bachelor of Communication (Journalism) and the Graduate Diploma in Journalism. This role is ideal for an academic with a robust multimedia journalism background, particularly in a newsroom setting. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of experience in various journalism formats, such as online, audio-visual, design, and data visualisation to our team.
Responsibilities include:
Delivering high-quality teaching across our undergraduate and postgraduate journalism courses.
Engaging in scholarly research activities, contributing to the field of journalism through research and industry partnerships.
Enhancing our discipline's research culture with active contributions to journalism studies, especially in adapting journalism practices to new and emerging media platforms.
Working collaboratively with the Journalism team, coordinating courses, academic advising, student selection, and other related duties.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have:
An in-depth knowledge of journalism and the ability to bridge between industry and scholarly research in the field.
Ability to prepare and deliver courses at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, and to produce high-quality curriculum materials.
Ability to undertake course coordination roles.
Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs in journalism evidenced by publications, development of research initiatives and industry links.
Ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates.
Ability to build effective networks with industry as well as the academy and generate funded partnerships with industry and government.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills appropriate for interacting with students, industry, higher degree by research candidates, and staff, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Mandatory: PhD or equivalent in relevant field
