This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2024

The School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and motivated Curriculum Operations Manager who will support the Executive Team and Program Coordinator – Administration in providing strategic leadership to enhance learning outcomes for our students.

SIDE is the main centre for Kindergarten to Year 12 distance education and online learning. It provides quality education for students who for various reasons cannot attend classes in a mainstream school. SIDE has a critical role within the Western Australian education system, supporting system needs and priorities and has a large and diverse student population. A considerable degree of flexibility and the ability to effectively plan and prioritise to balance the requirements of the role with the business needs of the school will be highly regarded.

As Curriculum Operations Manager at SIDE, you will be pivotal in collaborating with the school executive and Heads of Learning Areas to create and implement the whole school timetable, organisation of examinations including student and teacher timetables, room allocations across multiple campus’, NAPLAN and OLNA coordination, Duty Rosters and organisation of Parent Teacher Interviews. The Curriculum Operations Manager will also be responsible for working with the school leadership on Reporting and ongoing student course maintenance within departmental policy and guidelines. You should have a flexible and solutions-based approach to problem solving and be able to efficiently use a number of different systems and programs including but not limited to Integris (SIS), Reporting to Parents (RTP), PTO and the Microsoft Office Suite. The successful applicant should be proficient in Western Australian Curriculum for K-12 and provide support to staff in analysing data and setting targets to assist in planning.   

As a key position within the school, high levels of interpersonal and public relations skills to engage the school and wider community in a positive manner are considered highly advantageous. The successful applicant will ideally be highly organised and have excellent attention to detail. Ideally, this role requires a candidate who can be self-directed and show high levels of initiative, as well as the ability to work collaboratively, balanced by an understanding of when to seek and take advice.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Well-developed human resource management skills, knowledge and experience and the ability to provide high-level human resource consultancy relevant to the public sector.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills, leadership, negotiation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage people and work within a team environment.
  • Highly developed organisational skills and the ability to create rosters, timetables and schedule resources.
  • Well-developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in facilitating the development, implementation and monitoring of business, project, workforce and risk management plans.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Employees will be required to:

  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
  • Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
