This is a full-time continuing opportunity and is based at the JCU Townsville Bebegu Yumba Campus in Douglas.
How you’ll make a difference
With enthusiasm and passion for Public health, you will become a dynamic member of the Tropical Public Health and Medicine team as you design and deliver innovative and high-quality teaching, research methods, evaluation and health policy and planning. Predominantly teaching subjects delivered to undergraduate allied health professionals with some opportunity for postgraduate teaching.
This position offers you the scope to develop or build on your own research portfolio, in association with a strong group of collaborators in the College of Public Health, Medical and Veterinary Sciences, the Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine, the Tropical Australian Academic Health Centre, The World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Vector borne and Neglected Tropical Diseases, other research centres within James Cook University (JCU), and external groups based within Australia and the region.
What you’ll bring
- An enthusiasm and passion to promote health and strengthen healthcare for the communities of northern Australia and beyond
- A well-defined teaching philosophy with a critically reflective teaching practice that inspires student learning and cultivates a positive attitude towards teaching.
- Demonstrated ability in the design, development, coordination, delivery and assessment of Public Health curriculum in various delivery modes for internal and external delivery of subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- Demonstrated ability to secure and manage research funds, supervise Master of Public Health dissertation students, and undertake academic research in areas directly relevant to Public Health, as evidenced by track record (publication of peer-reviewed articles, conference presentations, grant funding, etc).
- High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and liaise effectively with multidisciplinary academics and team members, health care professionals, community and professional bodies and other key stakeholders.
