Job Description:

The Role

Legal Services supports the management and delivery of legal services to the Department of Health. This includes managing the provision of specialist high level legislative review and legal support advisory services to the Minister for Health, Secretary, Deputy Secretaries, Executive, Strategic Executive and other senior managers regarding legal policy issues for the health system including statewide and national issues and developments.

  • Provide advice to support legislative review, including preparing or coordinating relevant legal policy advice, drafting instructions, Minutes, Cabinet submissions, Parliamentary Papers, and other documentation.
  • Assist with the provision of authorative advice in relation to contracting issues, developing agreements, matters relating to indemnity and insurance.
  • Conducting research, investigations and undertaking analysis into emerging legal issues.
  • Advise on emerging legal issues and formulate correspondence to the Office of the Solicitor-General and State Litigation Office.
  • Assist with managing the Agency's statutory obligations, including Right to Information requests.

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full-time day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

Salary

$95,393 - $100,067 per annum + our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Eligibility

  • Tertiary qualifications in law

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
  • crimes of violence
  • sex related offences
  • serious drug offences
  • crimes involving dishonesty.
  1. Identification check
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
