About the role:

A newly established, permanent, full-time role within the Governance Team to provide company-wide advice on privacy law and compliance with privacy processes/practices at Alinta Energy and matters of interpretation in respect of Alinta Energy FIRB conditions. The role is also responsible for embedding a compliance culture across Alinta Energy through collaborative stakeholder engagement, pragmatic solutions and proactive communications.

Duties:

• Advise the business on privacy and FIRB related matters, having regard to risk positions
• Review and advise on privacy impact assessments completed by the business
• Keep abreast of changes to law and policy and keep the business informed
• Contract approval processes
• Support the Governance Team as required on regulator engagements, privacy audit and specific privacy projects
• Embed a culture of privacy compliance

Skills and experience:

• A legal or strong governance or compliance background
• An understanding of Privacy laws including the Privacy Act and other Acts of codes of conduct in relation to privacy, credit reporting, data protection and Personal Information
• A practical understanding of Australian Privacy Principles (APP) and Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) requirements and their implementation in a corporate environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
• Highly responsive and service-oriented attitude placing a high value on team spirit and collaboration
• Capability to identify risk and support the business in risk management
