Primary Objective

As a Legal Counsel, you will be a crucial member of the team overseeing the legal & contract administration aspects of solar farm and battery storage projects. Your role will encompass the entire project lifecycle, from initial tender processes to delivery and conclusion. You will provide legal expertise and contract administration support to respective teams, ensuring alignment with project practices and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Lead the legal aspects of the tender process, including pre-qualification, evaluation, negotiation, and contract drafting.
  • Provide clear and concise contractual correspondence under main contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
  • Ensure effective communication to maintain project transparency and alignment.
  • Offer timely legal advice to the project team, anticipating and mitigating issues, events, and risks under the contract.
  • Along with project teams, proactively identify and manage key risks associated with contracts.
  • Navigate various contracts, including EPC, O&M, Subcontracts, consultancy appointments, construction contracts, supply agreements, labor hire, equipment hire/lease agreements and maintenance contracts.
  • Lead claims and dispute resolution procedures, aiming for legally and commercially beneficial solutions.
  • Collaborate with legal and project teams to address and resolve issues promptly.
  • Ensure strict compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and adjust legal processes accordingly.
  • Take lead for claims regarding extension of time, productivity, acceleration, and other key contractual matters. 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in law, Business, or a related field. Additional certifications in contract management are a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in Legal Counsel in the construction industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and negotiating complex construction contracts.
  • Proficiency in legal considerations, contract management processes, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable 

  • Familiarity with renewable energy technologies, regulatory compliance, and industry trends.
