We are currently recruiting for a Legal Counsel – Commercial and Contracts.
In this role you will be part of the valued in-house legal team for the St Vincent’s Health Australia (SVHA) Group, working closely with Group General Counsel to provide strategic and legally sound advice to support SVHA business activities and commercial decision making, highlighting business risks and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts including healthcare and aged care related, IT/ technology, private health insurance, property and construction, procurement and general commercial
- Providing general and regulatory advice with a focus on the health and aged care industry
- Assisting with:
- corporate governance and legislative compliance
- developing legal precedents, policy, processes and workflows
- strategic corporate initiatives related to legal, risk, governance and privacy
- briefing and instructing external legal advisers including efficient matter management and maintaining relationships
- Tertiary qualification in law
- Admitted to practice in at least one state jurisdiction in Australia
- Unrestricted practising certificate in at least one state jurisdiction in Australia
- Prior experience in a leading law firm and/or as an in-house counsel in a large complex organisation.
- Experience in major contracts and transactions and contract drafting
- experience gained in a corporate healthcare or aged care environment and/or advising healthcare, aged care and home care clients
- experience in advising on IT/ technology, private health insurance, property and construction, procurement
- Experience in risk, compliance and governance including assisting with Board processes
- Experience in dispute resolution
