Legal Counsel - Corporate Regulatory

A great opportunity to join the Stockland Group Legal team and work across an interesting and diverse scope of work.

As a Legal Counsel, supporting our Corporate and Regulatory team, you will work with stakeholders across a broad spectrum of practice areas including but not limited to, company secretarial, corporate/commercial, technology, data, innovation, marketing, intellectual property, procurement, and regulatory compliance.

About the role

As part of a dedicated team of experienced lawyers, you will be responsible for assisting the lawyers within the team with:

• Providing company secretarial and corporate governance support across the Stockland Group. This includes but is not limited to, attending to ASX/ASIC lodgements, maintenance of statutory registers, company, and trust establishment, preparing circular resolutions, preparation of documentation for and assisting in the holding of the AGM, managing dividend and distribution payments and allotment of securities.
• Proactively identifying opportunities for improvement in governance practices and providing corporate governance support to Group Legal and other key stakeholders as required.
• Assist with general corporate legal matters including the review and negotiation of agreements across the group functions of Stockland Group. This includes providing legal support to internal teams on contractual matters related to technology, privacy, data security and protection, marketing, and procurement.
• Undertake or participate in ad hoc legal projects as required.
• Building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to the preparation and delivery of internal training on legal topics.
• Contribute to the preparation and updating of precedent documents used across the Corporate & Regulatory team.
• Contribute to team success by collaborating with other team members, sharing ideas and knowledge, and seeking to learn from team members.
• Enhance Stockland’s Operational Risk leadership practices and reputation by adhering to relevant compliance and regulatory obligations; participating in operational risk training; and contributing to the development and review of operational risk procedures.

About you

• Appropriate tertiary qualifications
• Hold valid practicing certificate permitting practice in New South Wales
• 1-2 years PQE
• You are commercially minded and solutions driven
• You have some experience reviewing documents and providing legal advice under supervision
• Importantly you enjoy working as part of a collaborative team and have the ability to influence a variety of stakeholders
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, collaborative approach
