The Role
As a Legal Counsel at Constantinople, you’ll help to deliver on its mission to radically simplify how banks run and operate. We are looking for candidates with experience in legal practice in the area of financial services, lending and/or payments. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a private practice or in-house legal team (ideally within the financial services industry or in a fintech startup).
You will be responsible for providing legal support to various stakeholders within the Constantinople business and interacting with clients and vendors on legal matters.
What You’ll Do
- Providing legal advice to key stakeholders in relation to a broad range of legal matters that require an understanding of some of the following: Corporations Act, COBCOP/BCOP, Privacy/Data, National Credit Code, AML/CTF Act, and Consumer Data Right
- Drafting/advising on end-customer collateral
- Negotiating commercial contracts with clients and vendors
- Exercising judgment when escalating legal issues to stakeholders, including the broader Leadership Team
- You are action-oriented, communicate effectively, have a strong ability to relationship build and influence others and can navigate complexity
- You are an experienced legal officer who has worked in the financial services industry or in a fintech startup
- Ideally, you are a Legal Counsel with strong subject matter expertise in financial services (candidates with experience in retail/small business lending will be preferred)
- You thrive when you're working closely with a team of innovation-driven professionals to proactively resolve a diverse range of legal issues
- You have a passion for technology and a real interest in exploring that passion in a start-up environment
