We are currently recruiting for a Legal Counsel – Medico legal, litigation and dispute resolution
In this role you will be part of the valued in-house legal team for the St Vincent’s Health Australia (SVHA) Group, working closely with Group General Counsel to provide strategic and legally sound advice to support SVHA business activities and decision making, highlighting business risks and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide litigation management and dispute resolution services to SVHA’s hospitals and aged care facilities
- Provide general and regulatory advice on health and aged care services matters
- Assist with:
- corporate governance and legislative compliance
- managing complex consumer complaints and disputes
- developing legal precedents, policy, processes and workflows
- strategic corporate initiatives related to legal, risk, governance and privacy
- Brief and instruct external legal advisers including efficient matter management and maintaining relationships
- Tertiary qualification in law
- Admitted to practice in at least one state jurisdiction in Australia
- Unrestricted practising certificate in at least one state jurisdiction in Australia
- Prior experience in a leading law firm and/or as an in-house counsel in a large complex organisation.
- Substantial experience in litigation management and dispute resolution
- Substantial experience in managing complex consumer complaints
- Experience gained in a corporate healthcare or aged care environment and/or advising healthcare, aged care and home care clients
- Experience in risk, compliance and governance including assisting with Board processes
- Experience in advising/ drafting in relation to private health insurance, IT/ technology, property and construction, and procurement
