Join the Sydney Metro Project Delivery Legal team that provides expert legal advice to support delivery of these once-in-a-generation transport infrastructure projects across Greater Sydney. There are currently 10 lawyers in the team, with varying degrees of experience. Most have spent a large portion of their careers in private practice, with Sydney Metro being their first Government role. It is a highly collaborative, fun and supportive team culture – the team love the challenges and pace of Sydney Metro, but equally love to find time to have a laugh with one another.
Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel or Senior Legal Counsel, you will deliver high quality, high value, timely and solutions focused legal services and independent advice for the organisation.
The role provides expert advice in relation to projects that are highly complex, highly sensitive, have a high profile and have high financial, reputational or operational risks, as well as on more day to day routine matters such as high volume construction and projects work.
This is initially a full time12 month Fixed Term opportunity, Transport Senior Service Manager TSSM level offering an attractive remuneration package. The role is located in our offices at 680 George Street, Sydney, however we offer flexibility with a combination of office and remote working.

About You
You are a proven professional looking for a career-defining opportunity to build a legacy for generations to come.
You will have proven expertise in front end construction law in a major projects environment.
You will have demonstrated experience in providing expert legal advice on complex or contentious matters, and can influence and drive change with a thorough understanding of complex contractual terms and conditions.
Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with the legal and project teams in a complex project environment will be essential.
You will have good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to balance competing priorities while providing consistent high quality strategic and responsive legal advice.
You will have strong analytical skills, and the ability to make commercial decisions within a legal context.
Eligible to hold a practicing certificate in NSW
Superior current knowledge and expertise in at least one of the following areas of law :
Front end construction law
Contract law on Infrastructure projects
Energy and Resources Law
Proven capability to develop skills in other practice areas
