About us
Moray & Agnew is one of Australia’s leading specialist law firms with over 650 staff nationally. We have offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Newcastle and Perth and have an unrivalled reputation in our market. Over the last decade, the firm has tripled in size to support the growth of our Australian and international clients.
We are passionate about what we do and want you to be too. We value technical excellence and the ability to function independently or in a team. We offer a unique workplace culture and excellent opportunities to further your personal and professional development.
About the role
An opportunity exists for a Legal Office Assistant ("LOA") to join the pool of LOAs who support across our CTP and Government teams in our Brisbane office.
Some of the responsibilities include:
- Providing support to Legal Secretaries
- Collating briefs to Counsel and other experts
- Court filing
- Manage, organise and maintain documents in paper and electronic filing systems
- General office duties such as photocopying, faxing, filing, mail and running any errands
- Lunch time reception relief and switchboard duties
To fulfill the inherent requirements of this role, successful candidates are required to work a minimum of three days a week during study semesters. LOA roles are casual positions, therefore a degree of flexibility is offered. Whilst on semester break, LOAs may be offered additional hours, depending on their availability and the firm's requirements. We also anticipate that the availability of LOAs will change from semester to semester. Our office hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm and the successful candidates must be available to work full days.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for students who are keen to get their foot in the door of a legal firm or for students who want to build on previously gained office or legal experience.
Please note that this is a casual position, and accordingly, a periodic pay rate will apply.
About you
You will be a law student in your first or second year of study. This is an entry level position and whilst it would be desirable, you do not need to have any legal or office experience as "on the job" training will be provided to you.
We are looking for law students who will be team players with strong communication skills and an impeccable work ethic. You will have a mature outlook, confidence and the ability to remain calm under pressure whilst prioritising a busy daily workload.
We are committed to fostering a flexible, inclusive and diverse environment for our employees. We celebrate diverse thinking and experiences and we welcome people of all backgrounds and identities to apply to this position. We encourage our employees to bring their true and authentic self to the workplace. If this opportunity is attractive to you, please submit your cover letter, CV and academic transcript.

In the spirit of reconciliation Moray & Agnew acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to elders past, present and emerging and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
