Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) has been helping to save children’s lives for over 65 years.
They were Australia’s first dedicated paediatric research facility and are now one of the world’s most highly regarded independent medical research organisations. Their research focuses on the four key areas impacting children’s health: cancer, genomics and genetic diseases, neurobiology, and embryology. Their strong international reputation is based on decades of significant research outcomes in these areas of specialty.
Impact you will make in this role
We are searching for a Talent and People Specialist to positively influence and implement people-focused projects and initiatives across talent acquisition, onboarding, learning and development, performance, and retention.
Reporting to the Head of People, this is an opportunity to work closely with internal stakeholders and department heads to act as a business partner and take the lead in implementing multiple people-focused initiatives and strategic operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with hiring managers to identify current and future talent needs and develop and implement proactive recruitment plans
- Lead the end-to-end recruitment process which will include job advertising, screening, interviewing, offer negotiation, and the creation of employment offers and associated contracts within a timely manner
- Manage a comprehensive onboarding and engagement process to continually enhance the employee experience
- Support the performance management program which includes goal setting, feedback conversations, and career development discussions
- Oversee the success of student programs designed to provide students with hands-on exposure and a positive learning experience
- Support the Head of People to partner in collaboration with department heads and senior leaders to create comprehensive career paths for employees at all levels
- Conduct a thorough needs assessment and gap analysis to identify opportunities for career progression and development with the organisation
- Design and implement career development programs, including mentorship, training and coaching initiatives
- Implement initiatives facilitating high-quality feedback, leveraging valuable experiences, and maintaining ongoing connections between CMRI the alumni network
- Act as a true all-rounder to positively influence the implementation of strategic people-focused initiatives, and contribute to the success of the team at the Children’s Medical Research Institute
Skills and Experience
- Proven success in a similar role impacting the success of multiple people-focused initiatives across talent acquisition, onboarding, learning and development, performance, and retention while working as a business partner to support internal stakeholders with people related matters
- Exceptionally high levels of attention to detail, with experience drafting tailored letters of offer and contracts pertaining to each person, position and team
- Flexibility to act as an all-rounder, and the ability to identify gaps and create solutions that positively affect the full lifecycle of an employees’ experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with internal stakeholders as a true business partner and trusted advisor
- The ability to problem solve, identify root causes, and develop creative solutions that align with organisational goals and legal requirements
- The ability to think strategically and implement efforts to drive results that positively affect people-focused processes and programs for the organisation
