Known for our people-first approach, the Hawthorn Football Club have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and organised individual to join as an Legal, Integrity and Risk Manager to assist with all legal elements across the Club entities.

About the role
Reporting to the GM Legal, Risk and Integrity, this role will provide support in the following areas:
Legal & Governance
- Commercial contracts - drafting, reviewing, updating and assist with negotiation
- Maintain legal registers
- Review and negotiation to assist in driving commercial value
- Employment – work with P&C, & CEO and GM Football on employment matters across the Club
- Assist with ASIC requirements for the club and liaise with our external law firm partners where required
- Develop charters for committees, induction and education programs
- Develop Board Papers
Risk
- AFL Risk Compliance reporting
- Assist with management of insurance matters
- Risk Management Education for GM’s and Board
- Oversight of HFC Risk Management
Integrity
- Support the GM – Legal, Risk & Integrity with the investigation of matters that may arise from time to time
- Assist with development of relevant education on workplace legislative and AFL requirements such as equal employment opportunity and Safeguarding children to enhance compliance and understanding across the club
- Alongside the GM – Legal Risk & Integrity, lead club policy and process development to ensure best practise
- Support the effective delivery of in-competition integrity, including process and implementation
- Sit as a part of the Governance, Risk, Integrity and Compliance Committee, contributing to committee activities, action items and projects
- Contribute to projects in the legal, risk & integrity department as required
General Matters
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with third parties - governing bodies, external legal counsel, insurance providers
- Brand protection and crisis management assistance
- General advise on legal matters to Club executives
The ideal candidate
You will have a minimum of 3 years experience as an in house lawyer or paralegal, with experience in both commercial and contract law.
Experience in managing risk within an organisation and knowledge of Child Safeguarding Standards are both desirable, however, not essential.
The role is key in providing high level support to multiple stakeholders. Importantly, you have demonstrated experience in handling and upholding confidential matters in a diplomatic and discreet manner. You are proactive, and plan in a highly organised way, monitoring future priorities to meet deadlines.
You will have with an outstanding level of attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills, building relationships at all levels across the Club..
