About the role
This role sits in the Diversity, Equity and Wellbeing team as part of the Community Life division which strives to develop healthy, active, connected, and safe communities through the delivery of community facilities, events, experiences and life cycle services from birth to older age.
As an LGBTIQA+ Advisor you will lead the implementation of Casey’s first Rainbow Action Plan in close collaboration with Casey’s diverse LGBTIQA+ communities and key internal and external stakeholders.
In this role you will:
- Develop strategies and initiatives that support the wellbeing for Casey’s diverse LGBTIQA+ communities.
- Implement Casey’s Rainbow Action Plan.
- Facilitate training, education and networking opportunities for staff around operational best practice in relation to wellbeing and LGBTIQA+ inclusion.
- Identify and address gaps in services and support for LGBTIQA+ people
- Build and maintain effective partnerships and networks (local, regional and State) towards shared development and implementation of Council’s Rainbow Action Plan.
- Lead increased organisational capacity to embed the protection, promotion and support of the health and wellbeing of Casey’s LGBTIQA+ communities within policies, programs and services.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary degree of post graduate qualifications in health promotion, community development, social sciences with substantive relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience working within the LGBTIQA+ space
- Strong understanding and experience in person-centred and human rights-based approaches to LGBTIQA+ initiatives.
- Knowledge of relevant government legislation and policy, current research and best practice models for LGBTIQA+ health and wellbeing outcomes.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including: National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check.
