Position: Library Assistant
Start: 8th July 2024
Duration: 5 months with possibility of extension
Salary: $31.09 - $39.00 per hour plus superannuation
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: Sydney CBD, 2000  
 
Overview:

We have 6 exciting government contracts as a Library Assistant available in the heart of Sydney! Use your love of literacy, customer service and rapport building skills to create positive interactions with all library users. 
 
Primary Purpose of the Position:
 
The primary purpose of the position is to connect Library visitors and users with information, literacy, technology, spaces, and lifelong learning. The Library Assistant provides an exceptional customer experience to all Library visitors and users. This role supports the implementation of innovative collections, trend-setting digital resources, interactive library services, creative learning programs and welcoming spaces.   
 
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

• Execute core library tasks, including customer service, shelving and other circulation duties, fostering an adaptable and collaborative work environment.
• Demonstrate flexibility to meet the unique demands of different library locations in the network, ensuring efficient operations and teamwork.
• Be available for short-term engagement to bridge temporary staffing gaps, maintaining consistent service levels throughout our seven-day service.
• Respond promptly to on-call duties, addressing unforeseen staffing needs for the seamless functioning of library operations.

Essential Criteria:

• While prior experience in library services is advantageous, it's not mandatory.
• Showcase the ability to quickly adapt to various library settings and tasks.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills coupled with a customer-focused mindset.
• Comfortable with technology and strong digital skills to assist the community.
• Display flexibility to work on a short-term and on-call basis, contributing to library's operational success seven days a week.
