South Burnett Regional Council is one of the largest employers within the region, with offices and depots located in Kingaroy, Nanango, Wondai, Murgon, Proston and Blackbutt.

About the Region

The South Burnett Region is ideally situated just 2 - 3 hours' drive to Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast and Fraser Coast. The region is home to the stunning Bunya Mountains, where you can enjoy spectacular rainforest walks, nights by the fire in hidden chalets and the best scenic views Queensland has to offer.  The South Burnett region is renowned for its great wine, gourmet foods and recreational facilities such as Lake Boondooma and Yallakool tourist parks.

About the role

  • Based in Kingaroy
  • Permanent Part Time 
  • $66K - $69K per annum (Pro Rata) + Allowances + Super

Council is seeking a Part Time Officer to assist in providing high quality Library and Information Services to the South Burnett community. This customer focused role will include circulation duties, collection maintenance, the facilitation of library programs and assisting customers with tech inquiries. The successful applicant will have previous relevant experience in a customer service role, with sound oral and written communication skills and basic literacy and numeracy skills.

Additional Factors 

  • Flexibility to work from other branches if required. 
  • Participation in rostered late shifts and Saturday shifts as required.
  • Level of fitness required to undertake a broad range of physical tasks. 
  • Working outdoors in hot conditions
  • Working Hours: 8 hours Tuesdays and Thursdays & 3.5 hours Saturdays (paid at ordinary time)

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement of a current C Class driver’s licence

Desirable Qualifications 

  • Certificate III Library and Information Services

Skills and experience

**Please address the following key selection criteria items below, as part of your application**

  1. Previous relevant experience in library operations providing customer service.
  2. Sound oral and written communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive and effective partnerships with internal and external customers.
  3. Sound level of keyboard and computer skills including knowledge of the MS Office suite and proven experience using Library Management Systems and other library related technology.
  4. Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  5. Ability to work effectively in a team environment under minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
