About your new team
The Utilities Asset Planning and Management team is part of the Infrastructure Lifecycle, Planning and Performance branch of Infrastructure Gold Coast. The branch is responsible as the asset custodian for the development of the City's Local Government Infrastructure Plans (LGIP), network planning, new/upgrade infrastructure programs (including 10-year capital works programs), asset management planning, asset condition assessments and inspection programs, identifying renewal scope for delivery by Infrastructure Delivery, manage Councillor requests associated with infrastructure for the city’s water, sewerage, and stormwater infrastructure.

About your new role
The Water and Sewerage Network Planning Lead is responsible for the development, review, and implementation of water, recycled water, and sewerage infrastructure planning to ensure the City of Gold Coast’s future network service infrastructure is sustainable, prudent, and efficient. Your core responsibilities are to encompass various aspects of network modelling, such as strategic planning and operational modelling to optimise performance of the existing and future infrastructure assets. In addition, you play a pivotal role in city planning, overseeing sustainable development considering technological, societal, and environmental changes. Your work extends to envisioning infrastructure plans that align with evolving factors such as climate change, legislative trends, and regional objectives.

What you bring to your new role
Lead and mentor a technical team of officers in the delivery of water, sewerage, and recycled water infrastructure planning. Develop, coordinate, and undertake project management and financial reporting for projects in your business area. Manage and undertake master planning, detailed planning, and network modelling to ensure effective water supply, recycled water and sewerage network and release systems servicing strategies that cater for future growth, achieve operational efficiencies, and reflect state and federal government legislation, policies, and strategies. Manage the development, validation, maintenance and utilisation of water supply, recycled water and sewerage network and release systems hydraulic models, and undertake network modelling, climate modelling, and treatment plant modelling to ensure optimum service delivery. Manage and undertake investigations, deficiencies identifications of the existing systems, contingency modelling, analysis of system improvement options and optimisation for water supply, recycled water and sewerage networks and release systems. Based on detailed planning studies, review and undertake the documentation of Project Briefs and Business Cases to demonstrate the prudency and efficiency of proposed investments, for consideration and potential approval, prior to placement on the 5-, 10-, and 20-year capital works program. Manage emergent planning projects/activities effectively, including appropriate timely technical advice to internal and external stakeholders. Provide high level specialist advice regarding the system performance, including operational matters associated with pump station shut down, and temporary or permanent diversion of flow for network operational works. Perform any reasonable duties as directed from time to time by the Manager, provided that duties are within the competency of the nominated employee.
