A private client located on the central Gold Coast is currently seeking a Lifestyle Support Assistant to join their team.
As a Lifestyle Support Assistant you will provide care, support and assistance to a client (professional, male, early 30’s) living with spinal cord injury and related physical disability, to live an independent and purposeful life.
Tasks and ResponsibilitiesWorking closely with this private client in their own home and place of work, and generally in the community, you will provide care, support and assistance which includes:
- daily living activities including showering, toileting (bowel therapy and bladder care), personal hygiene, grooming, dressing and undressing;
- transfers including hoisting in and out of bed and chairs, positioning and rolling using slide sheets, and occasionally manual slings and slide boards;
- exercise including passive stretching and assistance with rehabilitation therapies (physio, hydro, and occupational);
- domestic duties including laundry, light meal preparation, and cleaning (vacuuming, mopping and dusting);
- occasional participation in the community including attending appointments, shopping, social, recreational and educational activities.
Successful Lifestyle Support Assistants generally require the following experience, qualifications and personal attributes, however, discretion may be exercised in relation to the specific details category as they relate to individual applicants.
Experience
- Demonstrated ability and previous experience working closely with clients with disabilities, their families and their support networks;
- Demonstrated ability and previous experience working in a client focused and client directed environment;
- Capable of undertaking physically demanding activities including manual handling of people and equipment (lifting, bending, carrying, crouching, pushing etc).
Qualifications
- Vocational qualifications in disability, aging, healthcare (nursing) or other relevant qualification/s;
- First Aid and CPR Certificates from an approved recognised course provider;
- Prepared to undergo criminal history screening/police check (or hold current Queensland Yellow and Blue Cards);
- Open C Class Drivers Licence From an Australian State or Territory;
- Valid Australian and/or New Zealand Passport.
Personal Attributes
- Available and able to work during the week and on weekends with shifts starting between 6am and 10pm;
- Strong communication (listening), organisational, literacy, numeric and problem solving skills;
- Reliability, punctuality and commitment;
- Attention to detail, cleanliness and hygiene;
- Professionalism, discretion, understanding, respect and privacy in relation to the client and their family.
