About your new role:
Working as a member of the Lines Design & Engineering team, the Lines Design Engineer will apply their knowledge and experience in engineering to successfully lead & deliver safe, effective, and efficient design solutions and provide support for specialist Lines Overhead and Underground projects & teams.
We have multiple opportunities that can be based at multiple Major EQL locations, including Brisbane, Toowoomba, Maryborough, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns. One of the roles preferred location is Townsville.
There are opportunities available including:
- Lines Design Engineer – specialising in complex Distribution (Overhead / Underground), Distribution Substation, Earthing and Public Lighting Engineering projects.
Providing engineering consultancy services and technical expertise to design and external customers, you will undertake detailed calculations and analysis, prepare complex engineering designs, reports, and technical documents.
The role focuses on achieving successful outcomes for customers through coordinating design delivery, monitoring design budgets and quality, applying safety and delivery risk management. Assist in the development of safe and effective solutions across an allocated program of work, including customer-initiated projects.
With flexi-working and a 9 or 10 day fortnight in place, the salary band is $140,751-$161,746 for 9 days and $159,049-$182,744 for 10 days, plus superannuation of 12.75%. The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position. Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Energy Queensland Union Collective Agreement 2020.

About you:
Important to your success in the role is your:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering acceptable for membership of Engineers Australia in the Professional Engineering category;
- Demonstrated detailed technical knowledge and experience in the design principles and practices construction, and maintenance required for transmission, distribution, and communication lines engineering, with a sound knowledge of the associated civil and structural requirements;
- The application of complex first principles overhead / underground transmission line design, including the calculation of overhead / underground cable ratings and the factors that influence these ratings;
- In depth knowledge of Overhead and Underground Line construction and installation requirements, including substation interfaces, maintenance and operation of substation plant and equipment, and earthing systems;
- Demonstrated detailed knowledge and experience in engineering calculations and analysis techniques relevant to the role, including use of specialist software.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills to develop, maintain and collaborate positive relationships with our customers and stakeholders.
