About the role
Dementia Support Australia (DSA) is a free service funded by the Australian Government to support people living with dementia and their care networks. DSA provides help 24/7, 365 days a year across Australia for carers of people living with dementia where behaviours are impacting care. We recognise that every person’s experience is different, and by listening to the unique needs and preferences of each individual, we seek to provide tailored care that helps improve quality of life.
The role ofLiving Experience Associate Consultant is to:
- Provide firsthand knowledge of the experience of living with dementia.
- Advise on matters relating to excellent support and care of people living with dementia.
- Be a member of Dementia Support Australia’s Living Experience Expert Reference Group.
DSA Lived Experience Expert Reference Group
The DSA Lived Experience Expert Reference Group is a group of 8 to 10 members and consists of people living with dementia and carers. Its function is:
- to ensure the DSA services are tailored to the needs of people living with dementia and their carers
- to provide an opportunity to give feedback on the DSA services
- to share information and data by DSA about the impact of the DSA services
- to promote and create awareness about the different DSA projects
- other initiatives as defined by the group
