About the Role
Would you like to be a Local Area Coordinator - Information, Linkages and Capacity Building – First Nations (Identified) and join our National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Local Area Coordination program (LAC) located at our Rockhampton office. We are excited to be in a period of growth and collaboration hence seeking someone who wants to support this amazing opportunity to bring their own strengths and community connections to our region.
This position will deliver the NDIS Local Area Coordination program by working with a broad cross section of the community including people with disability who have an NDIS plan; families transitioning from the Early Childhood Approach (ECA) partner; connecting with specific sectors of the community to support access to the NDIS for hard to reach groups; and link individuals with disability who are not eligible for or interested in accessing the NDIS to mainstream and community supports, services and activities.

Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include:
Increase community knowledge about the NDIS.
Support Carers Queensland to identify resources and experiences that contribute to our organisations greater understanding of First Nations people’s culture, knowledge, history, perspective, and connection to Country.
Actively participate as a member in the Carers Queensland local Regional RAP meetings. (held twice annually)
Work with organisations and community groups to be part of NDIS engagement and awareness activities and events.
Work with key stakeholders to support NDIS people needing extra support.
Work with people to understand their NDIS plan and how they can use it.
Work with people to use their plan to reach their goals.
Run Capacity Building workshops (face to face and online)

Experience in running workshops in community?

Experience working with people in community to build their skills?
Do you have community & stakeholder connections that contribute to the greater understanding of First Nations’ people and Culture?
Qualifications in the fields of Human Services, Community Development, Social Sciences, Disability and experience or further qualifications in the area of community development/community engagement?
