By administering and enforcing Council's Local Laws and Policies, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring a harmonious and safe environment for all residents.
Position Objective:
As a Local Laws Officer, you'll oversee a diverse range of responsibilities, including animal management (including Animal Management Centre Operations and addressing issues like stray animals, dog attacks, and nuisance animals) and general duties (enforcing regulations on regulated parking, abandoned vehicles, overgrown properties, illegal signage, and illegal camping).
Essential Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Valid QLD "C" Class Driver's Licence or equivalent from interstate.
- Previous experience in a regulatory compliance role.
- Paid Blue Card - It is an essential requirement for this position to hold a Paid Queensland Working with Children Blue Card. Under Queensland legislation, you must hold the Blue Card prior to commencing employment – No Card, No Start policy. - Proficiency in computer operation and familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent time management skills and capability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Competency in surveying techniques and data collection methodologies.
Candidates who have a background in:
- animal behaviour and expertise in animal control practices will be highly regarded
- demonstrated experience in a regulatory role will be highly regarded.
Special requirements include participation in rotational after-hours emergency callouts.
Employee Benefits:
- Base annual salary $66,967 - $74,750 + applicable allowances (dependent on experience and qualifications of the successful applicants)

Council is committed to the safety of its employees and requires an immunisation program for identified roles. The successful applicant will be required to attend a post-employment immunisation assessment, by a health practitioner nominated and paid for by the Council.
