Job description

The Business & What We Offer

VAJ Byrne & Co Lawyers is a well established law firm with long standing reputation. We are a growing regional firm across 3 central Queensland offices servicing all general areas of law. Our firm might be old, but we are a dynamic and modern law firm with technology at the forefront of our approach. Our efficiencies and paperless systems allow flexibility and work from home arrangements for our staff.  We are progressive and proactively work to deliver a genuine work life balance (not just say it). Our practice is supportive, family friendly and promotes training and growth. We place value on our people and take pride in our teams culture. We support our practitioners to learn and achieve in the areas where their passion lies and remain open to the suggestions of our team and how we work. We work without minimum billables and budget pressures. We combine together to achieve, we are not interested in traditional hierarchy and competitive culture, we work collaboratively, build each other up and celebrate achievements together. There is opportunity for growth in all roles including management responsibilities.

The Role

Experience in Family Law is preferable. Available to work in our Gladstone, Bundaberg or Biloela office, Fully Remote or Hybrid. Our Family Law practitioners handle a diverse range of Family Law matters, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Providing legal advice on a range of family matters including divorce, parenting, property settlements and child support
· Negotiate settlements between clients
· Conduct research to support legal proceedings
· Remain knowledgeable of current legal and social issues affecting Family Law
· Represent clients in mediation, court proceedings including the drafting of court documents

We also provide the opportunity to practice in multiple practice areas including criminal law, wills and estates, commercial law, domestic violence law and others but also the option to specialise and only work in limited or sole work types if that is the solicitor's preference. We offer full time permanent roles, however consider alternative arrangements depending on the needs of our staff. You will be mentored by a senior solicitor as required. Your package will include compulsory professional development, practicing certificate and insurances. Bonuses are available.

Who we are looking for

You should have the obvious things like legal qualifications, excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail. You should be motivated and looking for long term employment. We also want someone who will enjoy our team and look after our clients – friendly, kind and approachable. Ideally candidates will have post admission experience. We are building a team of achievers who are results orientated, have a strong client focus, have positive attitudes and provide creative and practical approaches to client problems.

If we sound like a good fit for you, we would love to hear from you.
