Our client is a prominent consumer goods company operating in Australia and New Zealand. With hundreds of employees spread across three sites in the region, the Melbourne headquarters functions as both the Australian and regional office.
About the role:
The Logistics Co-ordinator position is crucial in overseeing inventory control, import processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics operation. Your expertise and attention to detail in these areas will enhance the efficiency of our logistics activities.
3 key focus areas:
- Inventory Control - Chilled and Frozen Channels (30% of the role)
- Import Management – Frozen and Ambient Channels (40% of the role)
- Analytical Project Support (30% of the role)
Inventory
- Keep a check on inventory levels and monitor product movements to maintain precise stock records. Your responsibilities will include performing routine audits, establishing control measures, and collaborating with various teams to uphold strict inventory control processes.
- Ensuring data integrity is crucial, and you will be tasked with upholding it, including investigating any discrepancies.
- Provide reports to the Logistics Lead and Logistics Manager regarding the financial implications of inventory movements.
Import Management
- In charge of managing the end-to-end Import Portfolio for frozen and ambient goods. Your responsibilities include collaborating with internal supply teams and coordinating with freight forwarders to monitor and report on import shipments, as well as assisting with necessary import documentation.
- Vigilantly track import timelines and promptly resolve any delays or issues with freight forwarders.
- Engage in planning, communication, and trend analysis for Inbound Container volumes.
- Oversee key service providers and support in nurturing these relationships to ensure seamless logistics operations.
Project Support
- Offer analytical assistance to pinpoint areas for enhancing operational efficiency, cutting costs, and boosting inventory accuracy.
- Generating reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) will be included in your duties to offer insights and aid in data-driven decision-making.
- Seek out opportunities to simplify and optimize our processes.
- Assist with gathering data for local tenders.
Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years Logistics experience.
- Solid understanding of inventory control policies.
- Understanding of import processes.
- Intermediate skills in Windows and Microsoft packages such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Capability in SAP preferred.
- Experience in management of external stakeholders.
Nature of contract:
It is initially a contract covering a secondment until January 2025 with the opportunity to extend beyond this or made permanent.
