About the role
The position will maintain routing and dispatch functions through specialist Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) in accordance with department principles and industry standards. It plays a key role in the delivery of efficient services while enabling the logistical adaptation of services to cater for new service programs (on-demand hard waste collections, FOGO) and expansion of key collection areas (Elliot Springs, Alligator Ck, Oak Valley, Northern Beaches).
The business unit operates one of the largest council operated waste businesses in Queensland and maintains competitive pricing with industry leaders. The business operates in a highly technical and complex environment and is seen as an industry leader in North Queensland. The position is required to provide an on-going review and assessment of routes and team coordination to maintain and enhance collection efficiencies.
The role will use specialised industry systems and data to identify anomalies and recommend and implement changes to improve collection practices and efficiencies.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have a minimum Diploma level qualification in Information Technology, logistics, supply chain management or equivalent; or significant high-level demonstrated experience in the operation and application of vehicle management systems. A 'HR' class licence is desirable but not essential.
You will have the ability to interpret reports of driver behaviour, lift rates, regulatory rest periods, missed bins and defective services and communicate recommendations to supervisory staff. You will also have experience in training and assisting staff in the operation of systems. You will have the ability to communicate effectively with Leading Hands and drivers to assist in the allocation of runs and rectify defective services. You will have excellent customer service experience including the ability to effectively manage complaints and enquiries from customers (internal/external).
You will be able to provide basic technical support for the repair and maintenance of system hardware and have excellent time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure and maintain consistent level of professionalism. Your verbal and written communication skills including the ability to facilitate, train and assess information to key stakeholders will be clearly evident.
