Hays Recruitment is proud to represent an established organisation specialising in the design and construction of maritime vessels. Currently, they are actively searching for a Procurement Officer to join their Supply Chain Department in Cairns, QLD. This exciting opportunity offers a permanent, full-time role with an immediate start.
Your new role
As the Procurement Officer, you will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager. Your primary responsibility is to execute procurement activities in alignment with the established Supply Chain Process. Additionally, you will assist with procurement and warehouse activities as needed. In this role, you'll work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of procurement activities and enhance operational efficiencies.
Key objectives and responsibilities for the position include:
Administer Procurement Activities: You will be responsible for managing procurement processes related to materials and services.
Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to preferred supplier agreements, including pre-determined pricing and objectives.
Purchase Orders and Compliance Documentation: Prepare and present purchase orders, award letters, and subcontract compliance paperwork.
Purchase Order Reporting: Maintain accurate purchase order reporting and uphold procurement governance compliance.
Quality Assurance: Address any issues through the supplier corrective action process and maintain quality standards.
Benchmarking: Regularly benchmark to secure the best prices for goods and services.
Support Senior Procurement Officer: Provide assistance and support to the Senior Procurement Officer in their role.
What you'll need to succeed

Key Requirements:
Relevant Experience: Bring at least 3 years of relevant experience in an Engineering/Manufacturing or equivalent business.
Proven Capability: Demonstrate your capability and experience in key procurement duties, particularly within engineering or manufacturing environments.
Technical Knowledge: Possess a solid understanding of the goods, materials, and services procured to ensure quality and performance.
Computer Literacy: Be proficient in using various systems and processes related to procurement.
