Maintenance Asset Controller / Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Fitter

About the opportunity

Airbus in Australia Pacific has an opportunity for a Maintenance Asset Controller to join our team in Edinburgh, SA.

The Maintenance Asset Controller, also referred to as Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Fitter, is responsible for the performance of all GSE and related maintenance activities reported in company and customer recording systems. They are also responsible for maintaining GSE and S&TE to support customer operations and ground based activities to achieve capability outcomes.

About the role

Reporting to the Team Lead Maintenance Support, you will be responsible for the on-going maintenance, repair, modification and testing of aviation GSE and Support and Test Equipment (S&TE) at RAAF Base Edinburgh.

You can anticipate some of your day-to-day activities to include:

  • Ensuring a technical inspection of all S&TE items is performed on procurement, prior to induction to Vendors and on return from Vendors
  • Repair and/or replacement of all non-aircraft S&TE
  • Inspect OM GSE and provide repair advice and/or capability for unscheduled maintenance arising's
  • Maintain tooling including controls within an aviation environment to regulator standards
  • Utilise and maintain specialist and common S&TE in use within an aviation environment to regulator standards
  • Perform identification and disposal of obsolete S&TE
  • Identify breakdown spares, carrying out weekly stock checks on customers GSE and Equipment.
  • Assist the customer in repair of unserviceable assets.

About you

To be successful in this role, it is a requirement to be able to build long-lasting, collaborative relationships with internal senior stakeholders, senior customer managers, and external support agencies.

As an ideal candidate you will:

  • Extensive experience within Industry
  • Sound understanding of interdependencies between maintenance, support engineering, and supply chain
  • Sound knowledge/understanding of S&TE maintenance policy and work in a Defence environment
  • Experience in building relationships at Senior Levels
  • Previous work experience with hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of Defence logistic system
  • GSE Certificate 3 and/or AME Certificate 4

Applicants must be eligible for an Australian Government Security Clearance and have the capacity to satisfy pre-employment medical screening which may include drug and alcohol testing.
