Position Purpose
The basic goal of maintenance is to provide reliable operation of plant and equipment. The role of the Maintenance Fitter is to undertake mechanical maintenance work to support the reliable operation of the plant.
The Maintenance Fitter is to complete maintenance tasks as assigned by the maintenance planner and breakdowns in a timely fashion in order to minimise production downtime. The Maintenance Fitter should also maintain a regular dialogue with production leading hands and operators. The role will cover the Afternoon Shift, working 2pm to 10pm (Monday to Friday).
Areas of Responsibility
- Minimize downtime and interruptions to operations.
- Render better service to operations by performing most important jobs first, in consultation with the maintenance planner.
- Apply technical and maintenance experience to analysis of each job.
- Provide expert maintenance advice to operations through maintenance planner.
- Provide a first point of contact for running mechanical works as may be required by production.
- Completion of preventative maintenance (PM) tasks to a high level of skill and attention to detail.
- Provide feedback on PM routines as to their completeness and suitability in order to provide reliable plant operation.
- Prepare and stage materials for PM tasks in order to ensure that all materials are on hand.
- Assist in putting away maintenance materials as required
- Actively promote all aspects of safety, quality & environment and actively use the safety connections and non-conformance systems.
- Prepare and issue permits to work (Infrequently. Only if other staff are on site)
- Comply with SMWS's and Permits to Work
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Certificate IV in Fitting & Machining preferred
- Working knowledge of MEX preferred
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Intermediate keyboard skills
- Intermediate level of Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
- Time Management, organisational and multi-taking skills
- Ability to show initiative and be proactive
