Hays are proud to work with this mining business operating on King Island, off the North West Coast of Tasmania in Bass Straight. A highly specialised business, they process high grade mineral sand.
Your new role
You will be hands-on utilising your fitting and welding skills for site work on a range of fixed plant, mobile plant, light vehicles and project work.
As the in-house maintenance person, you will monitor all plant and equipment, scheduling and preparing all work to be conducted on site for maintenance and breakdowns. Your duties will include:
- Developing a pragmatic approach to managing an asset / maintenance program for all plant and equipment
- Ensure production targets are met through optimal plant and equipment availability and utilisation
- Minimise plant failures, breakdowns and time to repair
- Coordination of spare parts and inventory.
What you'll need to succeed
This role requires someone with exceptional mechanical experience and who is proactive, pragmatic and self-motivated. To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Relevant mechanical trade experience
- A strong mechanical aptitude and experience with repairs and maintenance of mobile and fixed plant including slurry pumps and conveyors in a mining or relevant manufacturing environment
- Experience with small business operational maintenance planning
- Excellent attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding and experience in surface mining and associated production.
What you'll get in return
This role is based on King Island off the north west coast of Tasmania in Bass Straight. Ideally you already live on the island or have the ability to relocate. However, FIFO from Tasmania or Victoria will be considered for the right candidate.
This is a permanent role and a salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
