We are NSW’s bulk water supplier, river operator and your one-stop shop for licensing, water trades and water information. We supply two thirds of water used in NSW from our 42 dams, rivers and pipelines to regional towns, irrigators, Sydney Water and local water utilities. We also own and operate the largest surface and groundwater monitoring network in the southern hemisphere and build, maintain and operate essential infrastructure.
We are looking for a Maintenance Officer to join our team at Wallerawang. As part of a hard working and highly skilled team, you will play a pivotal role in the ongoing maintenance of the Duckmaloi water treatment plant and service activities for water infrastructure assets throughout the Fish River water supply scheme. This role will also support the delivery of the maintenance plan for Fish River and put safety first.
This is a Permanent Full Time role which reports into the Maintenance Team Leader.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Operational maintenance tasks aligned with the preventative maintenance program by providing an initial analysis, potential improvements and responding to abnormal events
- Undertake Dam surveillance and water quality sampling
- Ensure accurate documentation and ongoing reporting on maintenance and services
- Meet emergency policies and procedures and participate in water infrastructure activities, flood, lock and piped supply/treatment operations
- Produce potable water for the Fish River Water Supply Scheme, in accordance with all state and federal regulations
- Ensures that plant operations are in compliance with operating guidelines and treated water is safe and acceptable entering the distribution system
- Maintain all required records such as operating logs, chemical and repair part inventories, maintenance logs; distributes information to internal and external personnel
- Be able to be on a on call roster/ preform after hours work.
- Water Treatment Plant Operations Certificate or willing to obtain
- Current NSW Drivers Licence
- Medium Rigid (MR) licence
- Understand water treatment theory / technology and apply that knowledge to the water treatment process / production
- Experience in Water Treatment Plant operations
- Ability to implement safety and emergency plans and procedures
- Demonstrated experience or ability to learn skills required to undertake maintenance, monitoring and operations of water infrastructure and associated services
- The ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive and hardworking culture
- Willing to travel and work at various sites within Water NSW
- Demonstrate basic computer skills and the ability to adapt to new technologies.
- Maintenance staff work 8-day fortnight and core hours are 7am to 4:30pm (Monday to Thursday)
