About the role: The Maintenance Superintendent takes responsibility to coordinate, program and supervise the maintenance strategies for plant and equipment enabling it to produce an acceptable rate of production at a high-quality output.
Responsibilities also include:
- Coordinate, program and supervise the maintenance of high production track maintenance plant.
- Respond to breakdowns and repairs associated with plant within the Rail Rectification Consist in an efficient and timely manner.
- Supervise the repairs, maintenance, and servicing of complex pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
- Review work practices, positions, processes, and machine performance introducing new technology and systems here appropriate to improve productivity and safety in line with the Workplace Health and Safety Act, policies, rules, regulations and Safeworking procedures and the Rail Rectification Quality System.
- Implement a participative style of supervision with a major emphasis on communication and consultation in a team-based work environment and review staff performance and encourage staff development including overseeing on-site training for Tradesperson operators.
- Identify, measure and report rail profiles as required.
- Input data into computers and ensure the timely completion of maintenance schedule sheets and perform basic administrative work as required.
Work structure: 8:6 roster, day and night shift.
About you: Along with your commitment to excellence in health and safety, you will also have:
- Mechanical or Electrical Trade Certificate.
- Extensive knowledge of the day-to-day coordinating, programming, and supervising of maintenance and repair of high production track maintenance plant.
- Substantial knowledge of maintenance and servicing of complex pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems used in track maintenance plant.
- Substantial team leadership and people management skills.
- effectively with supervisors and other technical staff by sound interpersonal oral and written communication and negotiating skills.
- Sound level of skill in operating autonomously in a team environment within defined budgets and time limitations.
- Sound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety regulations, Quality Assurance principles, policies, rules, regulations, and safe working regulations.
