The opportunity:
Visy was one of the first companies in Australia to build a Material Recovery Facility (MRF). Today we have an extensive network of recycling operations in the region, processing millions of tonnes of recyclables every year. Knowledge gained from decades of experience means we know how to solve your business and community recycling needs.
Every year we collect, receive and sort nearly 2 million tonnes of paper, cardboard, glass, plastics, steel and aluminium from Australian and New Zealand households, businesses and schools recovering the greatest amount of material we can at our MRFs and sorting facilities.
The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for leading the team in corrective maintenance, including emergency breakdowns on plant and equipment, as well as scheduled preventative maintenance to improve efficiency and uptime. You will be proactive, hands-on, driven and solutions-oriented with a keen interest in process improvement.
Reporting to the Site Manager, key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Ensuring compliance with OHS&E policies and procedures
- Managing and delegating tasks accordingly to maintenance team members and contractors
- Keeping downtime to a minimum by timely repairs on breakdowns, managing & maintaining spares/stock levels and preventative maintenance
- Achieving Operational KPIs and budget targets as set while continuously driving cost-reduction programs
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to the team.
- Collaborating with shift supervisors to identify tasks that needed to be prioritised and completed
- Continuously working on reliability & improvement initiatives including cost-reduction activities
- Up-to-date reporting on all completed work for accuracy and tracking purposes
What you will bring to the team:
- Trade qualifications with excellent Mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Experience with diagnostic fault finding and ability to troubleshoot quickly to keep the plant running at optimum levels and manage a team in a process manufacturing environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, time management and planning & scheduling skills, with strong stakeholder management
- Experience with MS office programs – Word, Excel & Outlook, and maintenance system software an advantage
