About the Division / Team
Our Hunter Valley network primarily services the Hunter Valley coal chain - the world's largest thermal coal export operation - by providing an efficient and reliable rail transportation system between mines and the Port of Newcastle. We manage the movement of around 250 trains per day on our network. Around half of these being coal trains and the other half comprised of passenger services, as well as grain, general intermodal, and other bulk freight trains.
About the Opportunity
ARTC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Carrington. As the Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in prioritizing, coordinating, and overseeing the efficient planned maintenance and breakdown work execution conducted by the Provisioning Centre. Reporting through the Area Manager at Port Waratah Provisioning Centre, you will ensure that work processes align with ARTC's planning processes and adhere to relevant requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure compliance with ARTC's maintenance strategies and regulations, including the Hunter Valley Maintenance Strategy, Hunter Valley Access Undertaking, and NSW Network Rules.
- Identify and promptly communicate critical issues affecting Asset Maintenance performance to the Area Manager.
- Support effective human resource management practices and consistent administration of policies and procedures.
- Manage the weekly plan and drive team efficiencies, focusing on labor productivity.
- Provide effective leadership and management to Work Group Leaders, offering guidance on behavior and time management.
- Coordinate responses to network disruptions and break-in work in collaboration with Work Group Leaders and the Maintenance Planner.
- Support safety initiatives and collaborate with Work Group Leaders to improve safety practices.
- Educate and train Work Group Leaders, Maintenance Planner, and Works Coordinator on Maintenance Integration objectives to increase work hours and productivity.
About You
To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:
Essential Selection Criteria:
- Relevant Trade Qualification
- Experience in Work Management and the use of CMMS (SAP or Ellipse)
- Demonstrated ability to lead change processes
- Demonstrated frontline leadership experience of a maintenance team
- Driver's license - Class C
Desirable Selection Criteria:
- Cert IV Leadership & Management or Project Management
- Demonstrated commercial acumen
- Exposure to government-based enterprises with experience in improvement
- Knowledge of:
- Australian standards for track infrastructure, including the railway National Code of Practice
- Railway safe working systems, principles, and audit requirements
