As a Portfolio Director you’ll develop and mature the portfolio management framework within the Major Projects PMO. Providing a detailed view and analysis across the full portfolio of large-scale, complex projects while managing three critical portfolio level functions of Portfolio Planning, Project Systems and Project Control Standards.
- Provide the Executive and relevant stakeholders with full visibility of portfolio progress by establishing reporting, planning and scheduling as well as portfolio level resource management capability to ensure resource optimisation as well as identifying emerging risks and opportunities.
- Drive cross functional collaboration to enable consistency of systems and standards application.
- Establish the Project Systems group that will improve predictability and efficiency of portfolio delivery through astute data management, and appropriate usage and functional application of the systems and software solutions
- Lead the establishment of the Project Controls “knowledge hub”, which will set the standards and define functional requirements for the key disciplines of planning and scheduling, cost controls and estimating. This includes driving a learning organisation culture and ongoing business improvements.
- Actively support and drive application of the “good governance” principles at portfolio and project level.
- Effectively build and lead specialist teams and the broader project teams to solve problems, create readiness for change and build and uplift capability.
The community you will join
Based in Based in Bowen Hills, reporting into the General Manager Major Projects Office, you will be you will be pivotal in integrating the Major Projects Office with the broader business and will work to establish a centre of excellence “knowledge hub” on the core disciplines key to Major Projects’ success, all enabled through effective engagement with Senior Leaders across the organisation.
Our Major Projects Office exists to manage the governance and controls that underpin the lifecycle of our large-scale projects - establishing our strategic aspiration to become a major developer that safely delivers complex and significant CAPEX projects over the next decade.
Your expertise
- Degree level qualifications in Engineering, Business or related field.
- Significant professional experience and capability in project and portfolio management and project controls across large-scale projects’ portfolio.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to establish and implement new frameworks, processes, and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to establish portfolio-level reporting systems to support data-driven executive level decision-making.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant project, program and portfolio management standards as well as thorough understanding of project controls, tools and systems.
- Demonstrated experience in managing, leading, coaching and mentoring large cross-functional teams in complex matrix organisations.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, including being able to influence through effectively engaging with peers and Senior Leaders across multiple divisions to ensure “best-for-business” outcomes.
We’d also love you to have:
- Eligible for certification with Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) or Project Management Institute (PMI).
- Tertiary qualifications in Program/Project Management
