As a Manager Portfolio Planning you will be accountable for a range of Portfolio Planning, prioritisation, optimisation and reporting activities to support the predictable and efficient development of Powerlink’s portfolio of Major Projects.
- In close collaboration with Network & Business Development team, you will lead the establishment of the Powerlink’s Major Project prioritisation framework and proactively engage with adjacent project streams, Regulated and Non-Regulated Delivery to ensure effective collaboration across the organisation
- You will identify potential constraints and efficiencies at portfolio level through matured risk and opportunity forecasting, providing timely advise to the Major Projects leadership team to ensure divisional objectives can be achieved
- Establish and manage the portfolio reporting function including the development of a full portfolio-level reporting suite and analysis techniques (eg. Monte Carlo Analysis) focused on both leading and lagging indicators of portfolio health, emerging risks, and opportunities.
- You will support Major Projects objectives by providing the Major Projects Senior Leadership Team, Major Projects Oversight Committee, and any other relevant stakeholders of bodies with full visibility of the portfolio status

Based in our Bowen Hills Office Reporting to Major Projects Portfolio Director, this role will play a pivotal role in the success of Major Projects division by establishing, leading and continuously improving the Portfolio Planning function.
Our Major Projects Office exists to manage the governance and controls that underpin the lifecycle of our large-scale projects - establishing our strategic aspiration to become a major developer that safely delivers complex and significant CAPEX projects over the next decade.
Your expertise
Essential
- Degree level qualification in Engineering, Management, Business or a related discipline, coupled with extensive relevant experience in managing Portfolio Planning and prioritisation, resource management and executive level reporting.
Desirable
- Project Management qualifications, familiarity with the relevant planning tools (e.g. Primavera and MS Project) and methodologies, as well as reporting platforms (e.g. Power BI).
We’d also love you to have:
- Extensive experience in project environment, with good understanding of both in Greenfield and brownfield development and delivery.
- Demonstrated experience in portfolio management, including portfolio level planning and reporting.
- Proven ability to effectively operate at portfolio level and act impartially to ensure the project prioritisation process remains impartial and adheres to good governance principles at all times.
- In-depth understanding of Project Lifecycle, from inception to commissioning, including ability to verify and challenge resourcing requirements across key project disciplines.
