About the role Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Management Accountant is responsible for preparing and analyzing company financial performance reports for local and group stakeholders. The role partners with the business to ensure costs and key metrics are controlled in line with operating and financial targets.
Key deliverables include monthly financial and non-financial reporting for the business, preparation of the annual budget, operating and capital expenditure management and, providing support to the long-term financial strategy and budget. The responsibilities include, but not limited to,
- Ownership of the management reporting and analysis process.
- Prepare monthly group reporting and analysis on order income, turnover, profit and loss, and cash flows.
- Prepare monthly local management pack including detailed variance analysis, business insights and commentaries on key topics across bid and project status, workforce and, risks and opportunities.
- Monthly review of cost center overheads and labor utilization metrics with functional leads.
- Cashflow management including short and medium-term forecasts.
- Due-diligence and monitoring of internal projects and investments including bid spend, capital expenditure, etc.
- Financial control for service center.
- Collate and prepare annual budgets, including computation of labor rates and overheads.
- Support improvements in general accounting procedures and systems (SAP, BI tools, etc.)
- Liaise and provide relevant information for external and internal audits
- Drive continuous improvement for the management accounting capability.

- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting / Finance / Commerce.
- CA / CPA qualified or working towards the qualification.
- Previous experience working in a Financial Planning and Analysis, Overhead Management or Management Accounting team.
- Experience budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling.
- Sound knowledge of costing and management accounting practices.
- Experience in business partnering with non-finance functions.
- Defence industry or project experience.
- Eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
