This is an exciting opportunity for a Management Accountant to work alongside a Group Financial Controller of a privately owned hospitality group based in Fremantle. The organisation is focused on the management and development of their hospitality assets which are based in Fremantle, Rottnest Island and major mining towns in Western Australia. Given their geographic spread across WA, this role will require the candidate to travel to these sites from time to time.
You will perform duties which support the senior team, and guide department/ area managers to ensure they achieve their targets. The ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with department heads to improve their overall understanding of hotel systems, procedures, financial results, budget and forecast processes is a key to this newly created role.
Duties
You will be responsible (but not limited to) the following duties:
- Oversee preparation and review of weekly management reports.
- Cashflow forecasting & reporting.
- In-conjunction with the Group Financial Controller the preparation of annual budget and forecast
- Review of Month-end Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Management of project costs
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax and financial reporting obligations. This includes providing BAS / payroll tax / FBT / Company income tax information to external advisors and review for accuracy.
- Prepare monthly reports for management, including analysis of variances against budget and forecast.
- Capex approval, management and reporting.
- Fixed asset register maintenance.
- Assistance with board reporting.
- Management of software integration - Assist with ongoing process mapping and documentation.
- Assist in the Company insurance renewals process and ongoing management of claims.
- Conduct ongoing analysis to identify areas of risk / cost optimization and efficiency and suggest compliance improvements.
Skills & Experience
To be considered for this role you must have a professional accounting qualification equivalent to CA/CPA and a demonstrated track record as a Management Accountant. Knowledge of the Hospitality Industry preferable but not essential. Previous experience within smaller businesses where you've led the business through growth will be highly regarded, as well as experience implementing finance systems, processes and controls. This will be a very hands-on position and will require somebody who is able to work at both a strategic level as well as get into the detail, which will include posting journals and driving month-end.
