About the Opportunity

As the Management Accountant you'll report to an exceptionally experienced and proficient Chief Financial Officer with over 20 years of experience in local government, offering invaluable mentorship to professionals on their upward trajectory. Additionally, you'll be supported by a dedicated and qualified Financial Controller.
For those passionate about leveraging technology to drive efficiency, this role offers ample excitement. We're currently in the process of implementing technology to enhance our processes and efficiencies. With the recent transition of our finance function to a new ERP system, optimising its capabilities falls squarely within the scope of this role.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will primarily revolve around financial planning, encompassing tasks such as developing annual budgets, crafting 10-year long-term financial plans, and conducting quarterly budget reviews. In addition, you'll play a crucial role in supporting operational managers throughout their financial planning processes, providing guidance and assistance where needed. Generating insightful reports to help managers gauge their progress throughout the year will also be a key aspect of your role.
Furthermore, you'll be responsible for administering the back end of the financial system, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data. Additionally, you'll provide support to the Financial Controller (FC) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) during month-end and year-end processes, including assisting with external audits to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Technical Skills Required:
- Professional Qualifications in Accountancy: CPA, CMA or CA (Tertiary qualifications in accounting or finance will be considered subject to solid management accounting experience)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a commercial accounting/finance role or in an accounting practice environment.
- Exposure to the use of mid to high range Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Experience with Technology One and the set-up and administration of systems will be highly regarded.
- Above average Excel expertise complemented by decent Word & PowerPoint skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability simplify and communicated financial jargon in plain English coupled with good report writing capabilities.
