Offices are located towards Melbourne's northern suburbs and can be accesses by private or public transport . You will be working for a very friendly and supportive non for profit organisation who are in a phase of expansion. They offer full training and also hybrid working so you can work from home 2 days per week.
The Role
This role will be hired initially on a 6 month contracting basis commencing in late February. With positive change and growth happening across the organisation at the moment, there is also a possibility that the role could extend beyond this duration. Candidates on a working holiday visa are still welcome to apply.
You will be based in the inner northern suburbs, but 2-3 days can be worked from home.
Typical day to day duties in this position will likely involve:
- Using prior templates and data to build and finalise the organisations latest budget
- Provide ad hoc support to the Finance Manager while a new system is being implemented (go-live in April)
- Conduct variance analysis and provide relevant commentary and insights
- Mete with various finance and non-finance stakeholders to gather necessary data for budget preparation
- Extensive work with pre-existing excel spreadsheets
- Financial reporting
- Supporting with streamlining and process improvement where necessary
This is a great opportunity for someone who is available quickly and able to provide commitment to a 6 month contracting opportunity. The role offers hybrid working flexibility and is based north of Melbourne's CBD. You'd be working in a very supportive and positive team and would get full training and support initially.

As mentioned, this role will be offered before the end of Feb so quick availability is essential and you must be able to commit until the end of June at the very least although ideally the role will run for 6 months +
Working holiday visa candidates are welcome to apply. The role is not necessarily overly complex and so could suit either an Assistant Accountant or Management Accountant with prior spreadsheet skills and budgeting experience.
Your Profile
You will have a background in Accounting and Finance with a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar position. The following attributes will also be highly advantageous:
- Exposure to working on the completion of a budget for a mid-large organisation
- Comfortable working in Melbourne's inner northern suburbs
- Able to start by late February
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Track record of financial analysis and problem solving
- Working rights for a minimum of 6 months
