VeiraMal Consulting is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our clients' business in Footscray, Victoria. Our client, WESTERN GENERAL BODYWORKS PTY. LTD., is looking for an enthusiastic individual who can work well in a team, with strong communication skills.
This role works alongside the site manager at Footscray, with reporting accountability to the company directors.
In general terms the person in this role will:
• Have responsibility of key management accounting functions across a number of manufacturing locations.
• Manage and be accountable for the integrity of the data associated with raw material purchase, processing, cooking, WIP and finished goods entered into Micronet systems.
• Ensure the timely entry of said data.
• Look to improve methods and systems for recording data (less paper and more digital) as well as ways of streamlining the data recording and entry processes.
• Ensure that others in the organisation are trained to be able to support you or carry out key tasks in your absence.
This role will be supported by management by providing adequate systems and responding favourably to requests for improving these. Management will also ensure all support staff are responsive to requests by the Cost and Management Accountant to carry out or modify tasks that will result in improved accuracy of the data collected and inputted.
The responsibilities will include:
• Overseeing financial transactions
• Compiling or supervising the creation of financial statements and reports, including budgets, audits, pay-roll, bookkeeping etc.
• Reviewing and analysing company financial data with specific company objectives in mind.
• Assessing financial risks and growth opportunities
• Making presentations and recommendations to senior management regarding an organisation’s financial direction
• Ensuring organisational compliance with relevant financial and accounting laws and regulations
• Reporting and filing taxes
• Managing finance and accounting departments, providing mentoring and training to junior staff
Cost Accounting
• Document a procedure and continually implement this procedure on a daily basis of measuring, recording, and calculating of all input costs of materials, packaging material costs, labour to produce, energy used and yields attained and applying these to existing cost spreadsheets.
• We can run through the existing spreadsheets with you which you will need to upgrade to provide more detailed information as required by management.
• Improving the accuracy and effectiveness of these cost spreadsheets is a key ongoing task that you will be aware of and will be the day-to-day judge of.
• Provide reports to management on material cost increases and effect on margins.
• Provide recommendations to management of cost saving measures.
In addition to the above key accountabilities, the role may expand to cover other areas of the business, but to begin with the above will take up most if not all of your time.

Remuneration: $130,000 + superannuation
