What you need to know...

  • permanent full time - 70 hours per fortnight
  • the package:  circa $163,694  plus superannuation per annum
  • location: Grafton

About the role

Exciting leadership opportunities are rare, but we have one that could be perfect for you. We are seeking a dynamic and driven communications and engagement professional to join our team. Reporting to the Director Corporate and Community, you will lead four teams managing Communications, Community and Visitor engagement, Libraries, and the Regional Gallery. This role is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact and contribute to our organisation's success. As the Manager Communications and Engagement, you will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting the execution of strategies and enhancing performance and engagement across all levels.

This position drives the community engagement strategy and other plans and strategies, including the Disability Inclusion Action Plan, Reconciliation Action Plan, Crime Prevention Strategy, Communications Strategy, and Destination Management Plan. Your work will directly contribute to our organisation's mission and vision, inspiring and motivating others to do the same. Your impact in this position will be significant. You will be designing, developing, and delivering effective communication strategies and related processes to ensure the development of appropriate engagement in line with the Community Strategic Plan and Community Engagement Plan.

You'll align communications and engagement strategies and plans with the organisation's strategic priorities and relevant plans/strategies. Provide leadership and coordination to a team of professional staff in delivering arts, cultural, social, and educational activities, programs, exhibitions, and events. 

To be successful in this position, we will require you to have tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, policy, or a related discipline, as well as extensive experience in a similar position with a demonstrated professional development background. You will have an excellent track record of execution in supporting Business Unit, People, and Community strategies, outstanding consulting skills with the ability to build relationships of trust and influence with the leadership team, and business acumen with the ability to derive the linkages between business strategy and people levers. 

Experience in specific communications and engagement positions and/or the government section will be highly valued. As a relationship builder and collaborator, you'll be able to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships across business sections and People functions, including the Leadership Team. You will understand the relationship between strategy and people levers, which will set you apart from others. In addition to having an analytical mindset that produces and drives strategic business decisions, you'll be results-focused with time and priority management skills.

This position is located at Council's Grafton Office, however, this may change should business needs identify other work locations to be more appropriate to deliver our services in the future.
