Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. We are committed to our vision of 'better health services for the people of western Sydney and beyond' and to the delivery of health care or related services in line with our core values of collaboration, openness, respect and empowerment.What you'll be doingThe Health Literacy Hub is NSW’s first statewide initiative, established to improve organisational Health Literacy and the capacity of healthcare staff across NSW. The Hub Portal and Communications Manager works as the primary contact for and with an impactful team to ensure healthcare staff are supported to deliver effective health communication and information, supporting improvements in Health Literacy, vital to optimising patient self-management and outcomes.The role is focused on planning and executing an impactful communication strategy as well as providing communication expertise and skills to the discrete programs of work being led by the Hub. The position works closely with the Implementation and Program Manager of the Hub, and is jointly responsible for the day-to-day integration and coordination of program management. It has accountability for maintaining networks and communications with a growing community of practice linking to the Hub and profiling its programs, resources and outputs.This role includes managing and developing, maintaining and co-ordinating a centralised platform (the Health Literacy Hub Web Portal) ensuring evidence based, best practice Health Literacy resources, tools and research are accessible to all. Additionally, the role plays an important function in coordinating and delivering to the Hub 1) the electronic Patient Communication Portal (e-PCP) which supports LHD staff in the development and/or review of health information for patients, families, carers and community members. 2) the Health Literacy training modules 3) the moderated activities of the online community of Health Literacy practice and 4) the hosting of the Health Literacy Seminar Series and any other discrete events.Benefits of working for Western Sydney Local Health District * Paid Allocated Day Off (ADO) every month, in addition to your annual leave (For fulltime staff)

  • Experience in the delivery and evaluation of health professional tools and education including experience with digital engagement.
  • Understanding of effective dissemination and implementation strategies for healthcare digitally-based programs.
  • Proven skills and experience to develop, implement and evaluate innovative communication strategies, contingency communication plans, stakeholder engagement plans and communication campaigns
  • Proven experience in content creation, particularly writing for and utilising multiple communication channels as well as media activities such as launches, releases.
  • High level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to redesign and transform complex and detailed information into visual, understandable, actionable formats for patients and consumers.
  • High level of technical capability to use a variety of software packages including, the Microsoft suite, publishing packages, graphic design software and an understanding of the production processes required for digital, social and print media
  • Project coordination skills including development and implementation of project plan, budgets, evaluation, KPI development and reporting components.
