We arelooking for suitable candidates to join our Planning and CommunityDevelopment Team as Manager Community Development.This role provides strategic and operational management of theShire’s Community Development portfolio, ensuring that theportfolio is operating effectively and efficiently, in accordancewith statutory requirements, industry best practices, and withinthe parameters of the Shire’s Corporate Plans.
This role isalso responsiblefor:
- Providing leadership andmanaging the Community Development Services team, ensuring theteam it is adequately resourced and skilled to provideexcellent services to the community;
- Developing andmaintaining strategies for key aspects of Community Developmentthat are incorporated in the Shire’s Integrated PlanningFramework;
- Leadingthe day-to-day operations of the Community Developmentportfolio, ensuring professional, efficient, and effectiveprovision of services;
- Consolidating andbuilding partnerships to drive and influence consumer-informed,evidence-based responses to key social issues, particularly inrelation to youth and Aboriginal engagement;
- Community facilitiesplanning, design, and management - ensuring the development,management, and operation of community facilities is strategicand planned with continuous improvement sought;
- Undertaking programmingand project management including the preparation of progressreports and funding acquittals;
- Managingthe Community Development budget to achieve the objectives ofthe position within the context of the Shire’s broaderstrategies;
- Identifying fundingopportunities, and coordinating and preparing well-researchedfunding submissions that align with priorities attached toorganisational strategies and priorities as outlined within theShire’s Strategic Community Plan, Corporate Business,Annual Budget, and other relevant informingdocuments;
- Providing effectiveleadership, direction, communication and customer service tothe Community Development portfolio and teammembers;
- Management of theShire’s Stakeholder committees – such as theDisability Access and Inclusion Committee;
- Providing professionaland strategic advice to the Director of Planning and CommunityDevelopment, the Executive Management Team and the Council onall aspects relating to the provision of communitydevelopment.
A DegreeQualification/s in Community Development, Recreation, Youth Work,with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar managementrole and a current unrestricted WA Drivers Licence are essentialfor this role. You will also have experience in the development anddelivery of a range of Community Development programs and servicesincluding recreation services, community events, disability accessand inclusion, seniors and youth, and community safety. You will beable to demonstrate experience in working in partnership with thecommunity sector and government agencies and a proven capacity tobuild and maintain strong relationships with key internal andexternal stakeholders. Your excellent communication and advocacyskills will ensure that you are able to effectively manage complexsituations and an awareness of the challenges facing the EastKimberley region (economically, socially, and culturally) which mayimpact Community Development programs and service delivery is keyto this position. To support your team achieve their goals, youwill also require excellent leadership and management andleadership skills and a passion for safety in theworkplace.

Location andRemuneration Package
The role willbe based from the Shire offices in Kununurra. An attractiveremuneration package will be negotiated with the successfulcandidate: included in the package will be a base salary, housingor housing allowance, utility subsidies, professional development,location allowance, travel allowance, relocation reimbursement upto $15,000 and 11% Superannuation.
This role isfulltime with a remuneration package rangingbetween $170,000 $180,000 perannum.
