The Role and our BranchCommercial and Contracting Services Directorate provides centre-led support services for procurement and management of goods and services, and community services contracts, and the governance of grant programs. It offers procurement and contract advisory opportunities in a diverse range of procurement types, values and complexity in a large team-oriented structure.The Contract Management and Advisory Services (CMAS) Branch provides advice and support for procurement planning and Contract Management, and advocates for sound contracting outcomes. CMAS manages the Department’s contract register and procurement and Contract Management system, and compliance with the Department’s Procurement and Contract Management Policy and Framework, and WA Procurement Rules.We encourage all applicants with diverse professional experiences to apply.You will be comfortable and accomplished in interacting with senior level Management and have solid experience or understanding of contract planning and management practice and support systems and possess strong interpersonal leadership and team management skills.The position is responsible for the Department’s Strategic Forward Procurement Plan and ongoing policy and practice development in procurement and Contract Management.The successful applicant will have a high-level capability to:
  • Lead and influence the development and management of complex and/or high-risk whole of Department and school-facing contracts.
  • Implement and manage quality assurance mechanisms and practices to assure probity, compliance and quality management in line with relevant Department policies, frameworks and legislation.
  • Provide training and support to sustain an effective contracting culture within the Department.

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
