About the role
Latrobe City Council has an exciting opportunity for an innovative leader as Manager Creative Venues Events and Tourism, to drive exhibitions, programs, events and activities to enhance cultural activities across the Latrobe City region. In this role you will continue to build a thriving events, tourism and creative arts scene in Latrobe, by managing programming and activation of a suite of new and refurbished regional facilities such as the Gippsland Performing Arts Centre, Gippsland Regional Aquatic Centre, Latrobe Regional Gallery, Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium and more.
In this role, you will:
- Build upon Latrobe City’s reputation as a destination for major events, tourism and creative arts experiences – including the International Tennis - ATP Challenger Championships and ITF Junior Championships, FIBA Oceania Youth Basketball Championships, International Rose Garden Festival and much more.
- Lead the development and implementation of the Latrobe Arts Strategy and the Tourism and Major Events Strategy.
- Manage Council's performing arts program in the state-of-the-art, purpose-built new facility, the Gippsland Performing Arts Centre - also home to our new Visitor Information Centre.
- Oversee the planning for future major exhibitions at the recently refurbished Latrobe Regional Gallery.
- Create strong partnerships with stakeholders and our community, to co-design programs and ensure accessibility for future Latrobe City events, tourism and creative arts, for all of our community to enjoy.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and extensive experience in successfully leading, managing and delivering similar services within he relevant areas of Arts, Events and Tourism, preferably within Government or the corporate sector.
- Proven leadership and proficiency in developing strategy and leading innovation in a complex organisation.
- A strong understanding of commercial business management, including marketing and business development and business process improvement.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
