About the Role
Southern Rural Water are currently seeking an enthusiastic and highly competent individual to fill the role of Manager Emergency Planning and Risk. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring that SRW has appropriate plans, processes, procedures, tools, skills and infrastructure systems in place to prepare and respond to emergency situations in an all-hazards context. The Manager Emergency Planning and Risk will also lead SRW’s risk management framework, playing an important role in fostering ongoing improvements in risk management strategies to ensure effective minimization of risks.
As the Manager Emergency Planning and Risk, some of your responsibilities will include:
- Manage SRW’s statutory obligations pursuant to Section 5-2 (Managing Incidents and Emergencies) of the Statement of Obligations for Water Corporations.
- Ensure SRW’s Emergency Risk Assessment framework is consistent with, and adheres to, the Water Industry Critical Infrastructure Sector Resilience Risk Assessment.
- Over-see the operation of the corporation's risk management framework and associated decision-making protocols to enable continuous improvements in risk management strategies and the minimisation of risks.
- Ensure that adequate risk management training is provided, so that SRW managers and staff can meet their roles and responsibilities in respect of risk management.
- Prepare quality and informative internal management and board risk and emergency management reports for high-quality decision making.
About you
The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate some of the desired competence and abilities below:
- Demonstrated knowledge of legislation, policies and contemporary theories of emergency management.
- Strong risk analysis skills with experience in Planning and implementation in a risk management and/or emergency management environment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience, with the ability to solve operational, strategic and people focused issues.
- Demonstrated effective judgement and decision-making skills when making complex decisions to support development of best practices.
