Additionally, you will be responsible for the provision of high-level technical expertise and support to the PHU and LHD to prepare for and respond to Environmental Health issues. The position coordinates and conducts statutory functions within the LHD under Public Health Legislation, and develops and implements legislation, guidelines and standards to conduct investigations and inspections on Environmental Health issues, including preparing of reports and advice. The role supports and contributes to the development and implementation of a strategic vision and plan to address the environmental determinants of health. You will also be managing the development and management of external relationships with the LHD across Local and State Government, regulated industry, and through developing relationships with the tertiary education sector. - Demonstrated extensive experience in managing a range of Environmental Health issues, with a focus on health risk assessment and health impact assessment.
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge of NSW Public Health related legislation and experience in its use to promote and protect Environmental/Public Health.
- Highly developed and effective management and leadership skills and a demonstrated capacity to manage multidisciplinary groups, including highly developed negotiation and delegation skills consistent with working in a senior management position.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and ability to analyse, investigate, develop practical solutions and report on often complex and politically sensitive Environmental Health and public health issues.
- Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with multiple government and other stakeholders, and with the tertiary education sector, including arranging and supervising student placements.
- Advanced computer skills utilising varied and appropriate software (Eg data recording and processing, Microsoft suite, Geospatial surveillance), and a willingness to learn new programs.
- Current drivers license (with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position)
